Artem Zdunov and Igor Komarov discussed the results of Mordovia's socioeconomic development
On March11, Igor Komarov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia inthe Volga Federal District, and Artyom Zdunov, Head of the Republic ofMordovia, Secretary of the Mordovian regional branch of the United RussiaParty, held a working meeting at the House of the Republic. The results of thesocio-economic development of the republic were discussed. In particular, theydiscussed the issues of developing investment attractiveness, increasing thetax base and the region's own income.
ThePlenipotentiary noted the positive dynamics in the industry, especially inmechanical engineering, wagon building and cable industry. The industrialproduction index for 2025 was 103.3% (4th place in the Volga Federal District),and the volume of investments in fixed assets in January-September was 104.5%(2nd place in the district). Successes have also been recorded in agriculture:the level of self-sufficiency in meat, milk and vegetables exceeds 100%. In2025, the republic harvested about 2 million tons of grain, and the volume ofgross agricultural output reached 147.6 billion rubles. Mordovia holds aleading position in terms of the share of innovative products (30%) and is inthe top 10 investment rating of ASI.
"TheFederal Center provides significant support to Mordovia, which makes itpossible to achieve high performance in all areas – from infrastructure to thesocial sphere. The region is showing steady growth and is effectively using theopportunities of national projects," Igor Komarov said.
"Theexpenses of the republic and its social obligations are growing – for theoverhaul of schools, kindergartens, polyclinics and hospitals. We are fightingfor sustainable demographic development, and there should be more of us. Weencourage people to have children and must provide the appropriateinfrastructure, and this is possible only with a steady increase in theregion's own income," said Artem Zdunov.
Specialattention is paid to the support of families in the republic. A Family Councilhas been established under the head of the republic, and about 40 supportmeasures are in place. Among them is a program to provide apartments tofamilies of state employees with newborns with the possibility of redemptionand full repayment of the mortgage at the birth of the fourth child. Acorporate demographic standard has also been introduced, providing for paymentsto employees of enterprises at the birth of children and other supportmeasures. There are already certain results of the existing measures – therepublic has become one of the 26 regions of the country with positivefertility dynamics. In 2026, at the initiative of the State Council of theRussian Federation's Commission on Family, which, by decision of the Presidentof Russia, is headed by Artem Zdunov, the All-Russian Family Capital of Russiacompetition will be held. It will be launched in Saransk.
It was alsoabout supporting veterans of a special military operation. The Heroes amongTheir Own program is being implemented in Mordovia, where 51 participants areundergoing professional retraining. There is a set of social support measuresin place, including employment assistance, rehabilitation, and free meals forchildren of veterans in schools.
"Wehave only one focus now – we need to make a significant contribution to thevictory, continue to help our special operation soldiers and their familymembers," the Head of the Republic emphasized.
Preparationsfor a single voting Day were discussed at a meeting on socio-politicaldevelopment. This year, elections of the head of the region, deputies of theState Duma, the State Assembly, the Council of Deputies of Saransk andrepresentative bodies of all levels will be held in Mordovia. This is the onlyregion of the Volga Federal District with such a large-scale, multi-levelelection campaign.
"Themain task is to ensure the transparency and legitimacy of the electoralprocess. This is our absolute priority," the Envoy said. Igor Komarovstressed that Mordovia is successfully fulfilling the instructions of thePresident of Russia. Thanks to the work of Artyom Zdunov's team, the number oflarge families in the republic has increased by 25% since 2021. The republic isalso a leader in the Volga Federal District in terms of the medical examinationof combat veterans. Security issues are considered separately. Law enforcementagencies have been instructed to ensure anti-terrorist security and publicorder during the election campaign.
